Barry M. Faulkner, Associate EC RISK USA & EUROPE, LLC, is an expert
in the area of petroleum geology and has provided consulting services
for clients since 1985. Barry has over 30 years experience in world-wide
petroleum exploration and production. He and Dr. Sam Sugiyama have

PROJECTS
1997-Present
- Continued petroleum consulting work for Collier Resources
Company, Naples, Florida. Completed South Florida Basin
geological models. Completed hydrocarbon prospect generation,
reserve/resources calculations and prospect risk
- Analysis. Completed geological presentations and negotiations
with the Minerals Management Service (MMS) and the Department
of the Interior, resulting in a $120,000,000 offer for
the purchase by the DOI of Collier Resources Prospective
Mineral Acreage in the Big Cypress National Preserve,
Collier County.
- Continued occasional consulting work for Coastal Petroleum
Company, Apalachicola, Florida. Reserve/Resources calculations
and risk analysis for Coastal's offshore Florida State
waters petroleum prospects.
1996-1997
- Working as a Consulting Petroleum Geologist to Coastal
Petroleum Company, Apalachicola, Florida. Identification
and development of potential hydrocarbon bearing structural
and stratigraphic prospects in Coastal Petroleum's offshore
Florida State Waters FSL 224 A&B. The project includes
the creation of a computerized geological database including
an extensive digitized map and well log database. The
project also includes numerous subsurface structural and
isopach maps, stratigraphic cross sections, detailed well
log analysis and detailed geochemical evaluation of source
rock potential. Also assisted in the evaluation and mapping
of reprocessed seismic data to identify structural prospects.
- "Expert Witness" for Coastal Petroleum Company
in Its Administrative Hearing Procedure where Coastal
received a favorable judgment.
1989-1996
- Worked as a Consulting Petroleum Geologist to Collier
Resources Company, Naples, Florida. Completed detailed
regional and local oil field subsurface geological mapping.
- Onshore South Florida Basin project: Identified several
potential prospects by performing subsurface structural
and isopach mapping, constructing multi-well cross sections
and detailed well log analysis, volumetrics and reserve
estimate calculations. In addition, co-supervised seismic
and gravity mapping.
- Made numerous prospect presentations to interested
oil companies in an extensive marketing effort.
1985-1989
- Worked as Project Manager/Project Geologist for
Geophysical Company Inc. (GECO), Houston, Texas. Completed
hydrocarbon exploration mapping projects in the offshore
Pulley Ridge Area of the South Florida Basin, and onshore
in the Sunniland Trend. The Project included extensive
subsurface mapping, well log interpretation, cross section
construction and supervision of the geophysical mapping
effort.
- Additional mapping projects for GECO included a study
of the sedimentary basins of the Pacific Northwest and
hydrocarbon potential of the basins of Canada. Developed
speculative seismic programs for GECO in the offshore
California and Alaska Basins, as well as the Eastern Gulf
of Mexico.
- Completed in 1989, a detailed evaluation of the eastern
offshore basins of Argentina and worked on a hydrocarbon
evaluation of the basins of offshore Uruguay for a GECO
seismic reprocessing project.
- Worked as a consulting petroleum geologist for Scanamerican
Consultants Inc., Los Angeles, Ca. / Norwegian International
Exploration Company, Oslo, Norway. Worked on a series
of hydrocarbon potential evaluation projects including
the Fourth Approaches Basin and the Bristol Channel, offshore,
United Kingdom. Prepared a review of the offshore basins
of India.
1980-1985
- Transferred to Getty Oil Britain as Chief Geologist,
responsible for the technical and administrative supervision
of a 14-man geological staff. Also responsible for the
formulation of exploration project plans in both currently
held and new ventures project areas with an annual exploration
budget of 70 million US dollars.
- Supervised the hydrocarbon potential evaluation of
projects in the United Kingdom, onshore and offshore,
offshore Ireland, offshore Northwestern Europe, offshore
Denmark, offshore North and West Africa including Tunisia
and Egypt.
- Administered and coordinated the economic evaluation
of exploration drilling projects, prepared the annual
technical project budget and presented the budget to senior
Getty Management. Administered and supervised the technical
drafting department.
- Resigned From Getty Oil in June 1984 to return to the
United States and set up a geological consulting business
specializing in international petroleum geology and the
petroleum geology of Florida.
1974-1980
- Worked as a Staff Geologist for the Getty Oil Company
International Exploration and Production Division in Los
Angeles, Ca. Responsible for the geological evaluation
of the hydrocarbon potential of Southeast Asia, Australia,
New Zealand. Also during this period, participated in
both geological field mapping and well site geology projects
in Peru, Guatemala, West Africa and offshore Spain.
