Dr. Sam Sugiyama

Dr. Sam Sugiyama, President and Founder of EC RISK USA & EUROPE, LLC (1990 to Present), is an economist with over 33 years of training and industry experience in developing solutions to client problems using applied quantitative analysis and modeling. He has also provided on-site and regional training seminars in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Since 1990, he has been assisting clients in a variety of industries to effectively control risk using techniques he has refined over the past 15 years. Dr. Sugiyama was Director of Training and Consulting Services and Senior Consultant at Palisade Corporation (2002-2003), where he formed and grew the department. He has moved his professional services to EC RISK USA & EUROPE, LLC.

  • 21 years teaching experience at the university/college level: courses taught include elementary probability and statistics, graduate level econometrics, elementary and intermediate microeconomic and macroeconomic theory. Taught at Weber State College (1972-1976), University of Utah (1981-1982), Lewis & Clark College (1985-1991), Portland State University (1982-1992).
  • 18 years experience as an analyst at the Bonneville Power Administration (a Federal Power marketing agency): Developed short-term electric load forecasting models; developed industrial long-term load forecasting models; was an industry advisor on industrial load forecasting model development for the Electric Power Research Institute; developed short-term risk assessment models; participated in developing risk assessment for spot market pricing; managed the Industrial Forecasting group for 5 years. Technical troubleshooter in the Business Strategy and Assessment Group for 5 years.
